Haiti were the much better team than Honduras between the penalty areas on Monday night, but they were horrible on either end of the pitch. They created more than enough chances to put Los Catrachos away, but their finishing was absolutely horrendous. Honduras only created two shots on target, but buried both of them to secure a 2-0 win.
Things got off to a horrible start for Haiti, with Honduras going ahead after just four minutes. A terrible giveaway in midfield led to Mario Martinez picking out Rony Martinez with a through ball, and he finished from a narrow angle. Haiti created multiple clear chances between then and the end of the half, but their shooting was laughable. Leonel Saint-Preux had the worst miss of the half in the 20th minute, skying a shot a solid 10 yards over the crossbar from inside the box when it was easier to score.
The second half was more of the same. Haiti continued to create shots, but did absolutely nothing with them. Honduras closed out the match with a 78th minute goal, scored by Marvin Chavez. Brayan Beckeles set it up with a pass from the right flank to the top of the penalty area, where Chavez was unmarked. He was left with a simple side-footed finish to double his team's lead and secure a victory.
