The Philadelphia Phillies placed center fielder Ben Revere on the disabled list Sunday. To fill out the 25-man roster, catcher Erik Kratz was activated from the DL, according to the team's official Twitter page.
Revere will miss a significant amount of time after breaking his foot Saturday during the first game of the Phillies' double-header against the White Sox. While batting, Revere fouled a ball off of his right foot.
The Phillies acquired Revere, 25, in a trade with the Twins in the offseason. He is hitting .305/.338/.352 in 2013 and has heated up recently with a .390 OBP and 12 stolen bases since the beginning of June.
Revere will be evaluated by a specialist on Monday.
Kratz, 33, had knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus on June 12. He was originally expected to miss between 6-8 weeks. Kratz will join Carlos Ruiz and Humberto Quintero as catchers on the Phillies' roster.
With no true center fielder on the roster, it appears John Mayberry is expected to take over everyday duties at the position for the time being.
