McDowell, who stands 6'1, 205 pounds, picked the Vols over Auburn and Georgia. The Locust Grove (Ga.) High School standout is a consensus four-star recruit, and held offers from a host of big time programs, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, and Wisconsin, among others.
McDowell's commitment gives Tennessee 20 recruits in their 2014 class, and brings the Vols up to second in the 247composite recruiting rankings, passing Florida State, Georgia, and Texas A&M and behind only Alabama.
