Brian Cushing has been cleared by Dr. James Andrews to participate in training camp for the Houston Texans, according to Pro Football Talk. Cushing missed last month's OTAs as he continued to recover from an ACL injury suffered early last season.

The 6'3, 243-pound linebacker has started every game he's played in during his four-year NFL career, but was limited to just five games last season due to the ACL injury suffered on Oct. 8. In those five games, Cushing recorded 22 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble as the anchor of the Texans' offensive line.

Both Cushing and the Texans will likely limit his workload when training camp begins next weekend so he's completely healthy for the regular season. There's more on the line than just this season, though, as contract extension talks were put on hold during the injury-recovery process.

If Cushing's able to make a full recovery and J.J. Watt is able to be as destructive as he's been in the past, the Texans' defense should once again be very solid this season.
