Phil Mickelson won his first British Open at Muirfield on Sunday, claiming the fifth major title of his career. As a result, Mickelson jumped from No. 5 to No. 2 in the World Golf Rankings.

Mickelson began the 2013 season ranked 22nd, and the No. 2 ranking is his highest since September 2010. He leapfrogged Rory McIlroy (3), Adam Scott (4) and Justin Rose (5). Despite struggling during Sunday's final round, Tiger Woods finished the Open tied for sixth and retained his spot at No. 1.

Ian Poulter was the biggest mover in the top 15, jumping six spots from No. 20 to No. 14. He completed a sensational final round at the Open, shooting 4-under par on the day and rallying to tie for third place at 1-over. Henrik Stenson, who placed second, three shots behind Mickelson, moved up 10 spots from 30th to No. 20.

Lee Westwood, who entered the final round at Muirfield in the lead, finished tied for third and moved from No. 12 to No. 10 in the rankings.
