Alfonso Soriano met with Chicago Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein Tuesday night to give him a list of teams for whom Soriano would waive his no-trade clause. Among those teams is the New York Yankees, reports Carrie Muskat of MLB.com.

The Yankees have been rumored to be pursuing Soriano strongly, with a potential trade being very close. Soriano himself said that the trade is "not 100%" but he "think(s) it is that close."

In Soriano, the Yankees would acquire a power threat that the team has been sorely missing. Currently, only Robinson Cano has more home runs for New York than Soriano's 17 long balls this season.

Soriano started his career with the Yankees, but was the main piece sent to Texas when the team acquired Alex Rodriguez from the Rangers. Now, New York wants to bring Soriano back in part to replace the production of the absent Rodriguez, who has missed all year due to injury and is likely facing a suspension relating to the Biogenesis scandal.

Soriano has hit .254/.287/.467 this season and is still owed another $18 million in 2014. Given that, it is unlikely that he brings back a significant return for the Cubs.
