Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde will be suspended for at least the Buckeyes' first three games of the 2013 season, according to a statement released by head coach Urban Meyer Tuesday evening (as reported by Land Grant Holy Land):

"Carlos Hyde will be suspended for at least the first three games of the 2013 season for conduct not representative of this football program or this university. He will be required to fulfill additional obligations before he is allowed to play in a game."

Meyer gave no indication as to what would be required of Hyde before a return to the field, and no further statement is expected.

The announcement comes hours after Columbus police announced they were closing their file against Hyde for his role in an alleged assault at a local bar last week. Police announced that the alleged victim has elected not to press charges and released video of the incident, showing that Hyde had an altercation with a female patron at the bar but left much to the imagination. Hyde had been suspended indefinitely after news of the incident broke last week.

Ohio State opens its 2013 season with home games against Buffalo and San Diego State before traveling to Cal. Should Hyde's suspension extend to a fourth game, he could miss the Buckeyes' contest with Florida A&M. The Buckeyes open Big Ten play against Wisconsin in Week 5.
