Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina left Tuesday night's game against the Pirates with no reason being given, reports Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com.

Molina "did not look right", and that was why he had to leave. He was hit by a swing on the right arm Sunday night against the Braves. Molina did not play in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

The Cardinals are now a half-game behind the Pirates in the NL Central, and losing their catcher could set them back further. The team has been on the fringe of the trade market, looking into options such as Jake Peavy and Erick Aybar. They could become more aggressive if Molina is to miss significant time.

The team is currently carrying three catchers, with Tony Cruz and Rob Johnson making up the other two-thirds of the team's backstops.

Molina, 31, has a triple-slash line of .331/.376/.482 in 2013 for the Cardinals.
