Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish had 14 strikeouts in Thursday night's win over the Diamondbacks, which tied a career-high for the 26-year-old righty.
Darvish has matched this feat three other times: May 27 against Arizona, May 5 against Boston, and most notably against the Astros on April 2. His start against Houston was a perfect game until he lost it on a single with two outs in the ninth.
Darvish currently leads all of baseball in strikeouts with 172, after racking up 221 strikeouts in his rookie season in 2012.
The Rangers beat the Diamondbacks 7-1, going up 5-0 by the fourth inning and Darvish doing the rest of the work from there. His final line was seven innings pitched, 14 strikeouts, zero walks, five hits, and no runs allowed on the night.
The outing dropped Darvish's 2013 season ERA to 2.66.
