Tiger Woods searches for his 15th major at the 2013 PGA Championship, while Phil and company challenge for the season's final major at Oak Hill Country Club.

The field at the PGA Championship is annually called the best in golf, and this year is no different with 99 of the top 100 in the world in attendance. There are 20 club pros and some exemptions that can water things down from 100 to 156, but at the top, it's the deepest and best of all the majors. But like the U.S. Open and the British Open, it's an extremely large field that requires some logistical wizardry to get 156 players through 36 holes by Friday night. The British Open has the luxury of extended daylight, but as we saw at Merion in June, even a two or three-hour rain delay can throw the schedule off for three days.

The PGA of America will start things off at 7:10 a.m. ET on Thursday, sending players out in threesomes off split tees. It's a jam-packed setup, but Oak Hill can handle it, and the weather looks good for the first round. The last group isn't out until 2:25 p.m., so it will be close sun-up to sun-down golf in upstate New York.

The marquee group in the morning will consist of No. 1 player in the world Tiger Woods, Keegan Bradley, and Davis Love III. All three are former PGA champions, but all eyes are obviously on Woods, who's now gone more than five years without a major despite regaining form for eight wins over the past two seasons. It's usually preferable to be out in the morning wave at the majors, with the course and greens less trampled and more predictable. Unlike the U.S. Open, the PGA is not out to protect par, so there should be rounds in the 60s available. One super low round earlier in the tournament, like Tiger fired at Firestone last week, might be all he needs to take control of the whole thing. He tees off No. 10 at 8:35 a.m.

With 99 of the top 100 in attendance, there are big names in a majority of the pairings, but the biggest in the afternoon features the season's first three major champions. This is the custom at the PGA, and on Thursday, it will be Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose, and Adam Scott teeing off No. 1 at 1:45 p.m. Here's the complete tee sheet for Thursday's opening round:
