Kansas CIty Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was carted off the practice field on Monday with an apparent leg injury, according to Matt Miller.
At this time, there are no further details as to how Charles was injured and how severe the issue is. Should Charles have to miss any real time, this would be a huge blow to the Chiefs.
Charles was one of the most overlooked stories last season with Adrian Peterson stealing the headlines, rushing for over 2,000 yards. The Texas native came back from a torn ACL in 2011 to rush for 1,509 yards last year and scored five touchdowns despite playing with Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn.
Under new head coach Andy Reid, Charles is expected to be the focal point of the west coast system as a receiver and runner out of the backfield for Alex Smith.
