Dustin Keller injury: Dolphins TE hurts knee, leaves game

Miami Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller has left Saturday's preseason game against the Houston Texans with an apparent knee injury. Keller was hit low by safety D.J. Swearinger and was unable to put weight on his right knee. The trainers tended to him briefly before bringing out the cart to take him to the locker room.

It certainly looked bad. Obviously, Keller will not return to the game, though the severity of the injury is unknown. It looks about as bad as they get based on the way his knee bent the wrong way, but it's all speculation until there's official word from the team.

Keller struggled with the New York Jets in recent years, only playing in eight games and putting up just 317 yards last season. He signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins in an attempt to earn a bigger deal with a big season, but if the injury is as serious as it looked, he could miss significant time. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had been going to Keller early and often in training camp and he was set to be the starting tight end.
