Rays closer Fernando Rodney had a problem. He really had to go.
That's not something you want interfering with your performance, so Rodney did what comes natural. He found the nearest room for his required rest.
Someone should have warned him nothing in Oakland Coliseum works like it's supposed to. For instance, the sewer system. For instance, the locks on the bathroom doors.
Fortunately for Rodney, with the latter failing him, the former had no issues. Or else this story wouldn't have had nearly the happy ending we see in the video below.
It was really an interesting day for the Rays. Earlier, a trip across the Bay Bridge that should have taken 30 minutes took 1 hour 43 instead. (David Price thinks he's just going to rent a helicopter on Saturday instead after paying $202 for the taxi ride.) Oh, and the A's beat the Rays, 4-3.
But, for one happy moment in the midst of agony, Rodney and his teammates had something to celebrate in the dugout: Rodney escaped the water closet uncontaminated.
