New York Jets owner Woody Johnson says Mark Sanchez won't be parting ways with the organization in the near future, according to ESPNNewYork.com.

"Mark will be on the team; I don't think there's any question about that," said Johnson.

Sanchez's $8.25 million salary for this season is fully guaranteed, which means releasing him wouldn't help much.

There had been reports that Sanchez feared the Jets were trying to phase him out of the picture completely this season, but it appears that's not the case. However, he will be on the sidelines for Week 1 and perhaps longer as he tries to recover from his shoulder injury that he suffered against the New York Giants in the fourth quarter of the third preseason game.

Johnson had a unique take on the play when Marvin Austin blasted Sanchez, per the piece:

"I wished he hadn't gotten hurt, but you've got to protect yourself, too," Johnson said.

It's always interesting with the Jets, who never miss an opportunity to make an odd comment. On the play, Sanchez was throwing the ball before being hammered, so any protecting of Sanchez would have to be done by the offensive line, thus why they are on the field.
