Dan Connor injury: Giants place linebacker on injured reserve

New York Giants linebacker Dan Connor sustained a neck injury on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys and has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, according to Brian McIntyre.

After the Cowboys' 36-31 win, owner Jerry Jones and quarterback Tony Romo suggested Connor was one of two Giants faking injuries to slow down the Dallas offense. The NFL looked into the claim and found there was no evidence that either Connor or Cullen Jenkins tried to gain an advantage by delaying the Cowboys. The move to place Connor on IR is a clear indication that Jones and Romo's claims were unfounded.

Mark Herzlich replaced Connor on Sunday and finished with six tackles. The third-year linebacker competed for the starting job in training camp and previously started four career games for the Giants.

New York moved quickly to fill its vacated roster spot, with the front office claiming linebacker Allen Bradford off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.
