Earlier in the week, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll expressed hope that cornerback Brandon Browner would be able to play against the 49ers, but that no longer looks as though it will be possible. The cornerback is listed as doubtful on the team's injury report, meaning it is likely that Browner will miss a second consecutive game to begin the season.
With Browner out of the lineup in Week 1, the Seahawks still managed to hold Panthers QB Cam Newton to just 125 yards passing. The defense could get even better if defensive end Chris Clemons is able to make his season debut on Sunday.
The 49ers injury report is much easier to traverse since it features only one player, running back LaMichael James. After spraining his MCL in the preseason finale, James returned to practice this week and is listed as questionable.
