Vernon Davis' status for the 49ers' Thursday night matchup will be determined during pregame warmups,according to CSN San Francisco's Mike Maiocco.
After sitting out the 49ers' defeat to the Colts on Sunday due to a hamstring injury, Davis returned to team practice at a limited basis. Despite getting the extra week of rest, having a short week to prepare for the Rams does not aid Davis' chances to return to the playing field.
Fantasy Spin: With Colin Kaepernick struggling in the past two games, the 49ers camp would love to be able to get Davis back into action and give their franchise quarterback a trustworthy option. Davis has been targeted 14 times over his first two games, and if he is healthy enough to go on Thursday, he should be able to capitalize on a Rams defense that's allowed an average of seven targets and 67 yards to tight ends in the young season.
It remains a murky situation that needs to be monitored up until game time, but with the tight end position so unpredictable, Davis presents enough upside to be considered start-worthy this week if he is a full-go.
