The Kansas City Chiefs signed offensive tackle Tony Ugoh on the first day of training camp and three days later Ugoh is gone. He has left the team and decided to retire.
No, really.
News from
— Josh Looney (@JoshLooney) July 30, 2012#ChiefsCamp: veteran OL Tony Ugho has decided to retire. Was competing for swing tackle job, signed 7/26. 28 years old.
Wow. Josh also reports that Ugoh was at the walk through this morning. Didn't see that coming. U
goh wasn't in camp long enough for me to draw much of an impression of him but based on his past history I expected him to compete for the swing tackle job, as Josh Looney notes. That competition now comes down to rookie Donald Stephenson and second year player David Mims.
Also of note is that the Chiefs now have an open roster spot.
