This weekend, the best match in the entire world takes place in the Bundesliga where number one Bayern Munich visit number two Borussia Dortmund.
Friday, November 22
Stuttgart vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach
A win by Gladbach away to Stuttgart would give Die Fohlen a big three points heading into a busy weekend for the teams around them. Lucien Favre has had his team playing some great football this season, and Friday afternoon should be no different.
Time & Location: 20:30 Local / 2:30 PM Eastern; Mercedes Benz Arena, Stuttgart
Prediction: Stuttgart 1 - 2 Borussia Mönchengladbach
Saturday, November 23
Nürnberg vs. Wolfsburg
Dieter Hecking returns to his old stomping grounds in an attempt to to keep his former club firmly cemented to the bottom of the table. He should be able to accomplish that. Wolfsburg are clearly the better team, and quite frankly, Nürnberg really aren't that good.
Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Grundig Stadion, Nürnberg
Prediction: Nürnberg 0 - 2 Wolfsburg
Augsburg vs. Hoffenheim
This will be a high scoring affair simply due to the fact that Hoffenheim is involved.
Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; SGL Arena, Augsburg
Prediction: Augsburg 2 - 3 Hoffenheim
Eintracht Braunschweigvs. Freiburg
I will admit that this match won't be the best football wise. However, both sides are struggling to start the season, and this could be win for one of the two.
Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Eintracht Stadion, Braunschweig
Prediction: Eintracht Braunschweig 1 - 2 Freiburg
Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Schalke
Schalke responded to their Revierderby defeat with big wins over Hertha Berlin and Werder Bremen. One of the signings of the season thus far has easily been Kevin Prince Boateng for Schalke. The former Milan man has made an instant impact to push Schalke up the table and threatening the Champions League places once again. He and his teammates will be too much for Frankfurt. Unfortunately for Armin Veh, his team's struggles will likely continue.
Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Commerzbank Arena, Frankfurt
Prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt 0 - 2 Schalke
Hertha Berlin vs. Bayer Leverkusen
Ten points may separate them in the table, but I expect Saturday's match between Hertha and Leverkusen to be a physical and intense match. In my mind, Leverkusen are definitely the better team, but they must be aware of Hertha's Colombian forward Adrian Ramos. He already has seven goals to his name this season and isn't afraid to rattle the back of the net with a shot.
Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Olympiastadion, Berlin
Prediction: Hertha Berlin 1 - 2 Bayer Leverkusen
Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich
The Klassiker between BVB and Bayern will be Saturday's late kick-off. The anticipation is high, and Bayern know that they can build a big lead over BVB in the table with a win. However, both teams will be missing a lot of players. As of now, the players that might miss the match due to injury reads like a "Who's Who". BVB will be without Mats Hummels, Neven Subotic, Ilkay Gundogan, Lukasz Piszczek, and Marcel Schmelzer. Bayern can expect to be without Holger Badstuber, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Claudio Pizarro, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Franck Ribery while Javi Martinez and Thiago Alcantara may or may not make an appearance. Geez. Bayern do have something that BVB don't have, and that is depth. They're able to replace injured players far more easily than Dortmund. Bayern win this one.
Time & Location: 18:30 Local / 12:30 PM Eastern; Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund
Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1 - 3 Bayern Munich
Sunday, November 24
Hamburg vs. Hannover
Pierre-Michel Lasogga has been a revelation since Bert Van Marwijk's hiring in Hamburg. The 22 year old has 8 goals in just 544 minutes this season. Considering that Hertha thought he would struggle for playing time this season and thought it necessary to loan him out, that's a pretty great return on Hamburg's investment.
Time & Location: 15:30 Local / 9:30 AM Eastern; Imtech Arena, Hamburg
Prediction: Hamburg 2 - 1 Hannover
Werder Bremen vs. Mainz
I like Nicolai Müller and Shinji Okazaki to take over this game and lead Mainz to victory.
Time & Location: 17:30 Local / 11:30 AM Eastern; Weserstadion, Bremen
Prediction: Werder Bremen 1 - 2 Mainz
