Knowshon Moreno has 113 yards from the line of scrimmage along with a touchdown at halftime. We take a look at the fantasy implications.
In what has been a game mostly dominated by defense, the Denver Broncos lead the New England Patriots 24-0 at halftime. The only offensive touchdown for the evening belongs to Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno. He has 107 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, along with one reception for six yards.
Naturally, the Broncos have been relying on their ground game since the Broncos took an early 14-0 lead thanks to both Moreno goal line score and a fumble by Patriots running back Stevan Ridley that was recovered for a Broncos touchdown. Both Moreno and Montee Ball are averaging six yards per carry. Ball has five carries at halftime.
Fantasy impact: There was some concern that Montee Ball's increased workload would hinder Moreno's production as the season progresses. It seems as if both can coexist with Moreno still capable of RB1 numbers each week. Moreno has been relied on heavily early in the game. Assuming the Broncos maintain a strong lead throughout the second half, Ball may see more opportunities as the Broncos rest their stud running back. Regardless, fantasy owners should be pleased with Moreno's explosive output through just two quarters. Moreno has a tough match up with the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13, but he'll continue to be a must-start fantasy option.
