The Vikings are holding Peterson out of practice this week, but he should be good to go for Week 13. We break down the fantasy implications.
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was held out of practice on Thursday. It's the second day in a row he has not practiced.
The Vikings are likely just giving their workhorse back a rest. Peterson popped up on the injury report with a groin issue last week and was listed as questionable, but he suited up on Sunday. He had no apparent problems with the groin, racking up 146 rushing yards and a touchdown in a tie with the Green Bay Packers. Peterson is just three yards shy of his sixth season with 1,000 or more rushing yards.
Fantasy impact: There's no need to panic right now, although fantasy owners would like to see him get at least a limited session in on Friday. At worst, he might be listed as questionable again, but there's no real reason to suspect he'll miss Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
In other words, don't bang down the doors trying to pick up Toby Gerhart off the waiver wire. Peterson remains an elite fantasy option and has a great matchup against the Bears' woeful running defense.
