Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel announced to the media on Tuesday that Matt Cassel has been cleared for non-contact practice. He will split reps with Brady Quinn Tuesday and Wednesday,according to Crennel.
Getting cleared for non-contact practice and a full clearance are two different things so Cassel still has a little work to do to come back, but he's obviously on his way. Quarterbacks aren't hit during practice anyway.
This brings up the big question for Romeo: Cassel or Quinn.
It's obvious who Chiefs fans want and that's Quinn. He dominated our poll when we asked which quarterback you want to see.
The Chiefs are on the bye this week so they'll have another week to make this decision. I'm guessing this won't be an easy one for Romeo.
What the Chiefs should do -- and I'll get into this later -- is pick one quickly and stick with it. You don't want to enter into a situation where both players are splitting reps all week, getting half of the amount of work they need as the starter.
