Philadelphia trailed by three after 40 minutes of action, but scored five goals in the final stanza to beat Columbus.
The Philadelphia Flyers have worked their way back into a playoff position for the time being thanks to their 5-4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.
Considering how bad things were at the start of the season in Philadelphia, that is quite the turnaround. What's even more amazing than the turnaround itself is how they won on Thursday.
Facing a 3-0 deficit after two periods, the Flyers scored five goals in the final 20 minutes, including two in the final four minutes by Claude Giroux. The second goal, which went into the books as the game-winner, is a contender for the best goal we'll see this season.
Also the most impossible. How does this even happen? A shot this perfect, from that angle, from that position, should not be allowed to happen. But it did, and it's glorious. 
The Flyers are now in third place in the Metropolitan Division. Once you get past the first place Penguins the playoff picture in that division is completely wide open and everybody is still in it, with the possible exception of the Islanders.
Elsewhere, the Penguins won for the 11th time in their past 12 games by blowing out the Wild, 5-2, thanks to a three-point game from rookie defenseman Olli Maatta who also scored on a penalty shot. The Buffalo Sabres stunned the Boston Bruins with a 4-2 win in their first meeting since the new infamous John Scott-Loui Eriksson incident earlier this season.

1. Will anything crazy happen between Boston and Buffalo?
If you were expecting some sort of carryover from the John Scott-Loui Eriksson incident earlier this season, that -- thankfully -- did not happen. But if you want something really crazy, how about the fact he Sabres won the game. Also crazy: Ville Leino's dive, which might be the best one we've seen in the NHL tho season.
2. Will the Sharks score more than two goals against the Kings?
The answer is no because the answer is always no. Nobody scores on the Kings these days, and this game was no different. Martin Jones stopped 31 of 32 shots to improve his record to 7-0, and just to prove that he's a complete player he also added an assist in the 4-1 win.
3. How will James Neal do in his return to the Penguins lineup?
He attempted a lot of shots but only managed to put two on the net, and he did not record a point in the win. He did however get into a fight with Wild defenseman Keith Ballard following a hit, negating what would have been a Pittsburgh power play. That's probably not what you want to see from a guy that's just coming back from a five-game suspension.
4. Will David Clarkson score for Toronto?
He did not, and the only person that did score for Toronto in regulation was Troy Brodie, putting in his first of the season. That turned out to be just enough to get the Maple Leafs to a shootout where James van Riemsdyk and Joffrey Lupul scored to give the Maple Leafs their eighth win in their past 23 games. Clarkson is stuck on two goals in 25 games.
5. Will Florida extend its winning streak?
Yes! The Panthers were able to wear down an Ottawa team that played on the road the night before, picking up a 4-2 win to extend their winning streak to five games. They've now won seven of their past eight, which seems almost impossible to believe. Break up the Panthers.
Impact Moment
The one play or moment from Thursday that will be making headlines over the next couple of days.
Kings captain Dustin Brown was ejected for kneeing Sharks rookie forward Tomas Hertl, who did not return to the game. A couple of things here. For one, the status of Hertl who has been off to a great start for the Sharks. There's also the fact that somebody else is probably going to be spinning the NHL's random wheel of discipline. Based on the result of Tom Wilson's hearing on Thursday and the non-suspension for Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey earlier this week, it's probably safe to say that nobody knows what's going to happen.
Stat of the Night
With his two goals on Thursday, Alexander Steen is up to 24 goals for the season. That matches his career high. And he's done it in just 34 games. What a magical, incredible season.
