Chargers vs Bengals, 2014 NFL playoffs: Cincinnati leads 10-7 at half

Mike Nugent's 46-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter gives the Bengals a lead with one half left to go.

The Cincinnati Bengals haven't won a playoff game since 1990, but after adding a field goal at the end of the first half, they lead the San Diego Chargers, 10-7, with 30 minutes left to play. Though the offense has stalled at times and running back Giovani Bernard had an unfortunate fumble near the Chargers' end zone, the Bengals have outgained San Diego in total yardage, 226-122, through two quarters.

The Chargers struck first on a seven-yard touchdown run by Danny Woodhead near the end of the first quarter, but Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton hit tight end Jermaine Gresham on a four-yard score in the second quarter to tie it at 7-7. Cincinnati had an opportunity to possibly take a seven-point lead on its next possession, but Bernard was stripped by linebacker Donald Butler at the San Diego four-yard line after catching a pass from Dalton.

Philip Rivers was unable to take advantage of the turnover, however, and the Chargers punted it back to the Bengals after using up just 33 seconds of game clock. Cincinnati drove 40 yards in just over a minute to set up Mike Nugent's 46-yard field goal to give the Bengals their first lead of the game.

Rivers, coming off one of the best seasons of his career, is just 5-of-6 for 48 yards. For the Bengals, star receiver A.J. Green has been held to just 23 yards, but Marvin Jones has three catches for 70 yards.

If Cincinnati wins, it'll head to New England to take on the Patriots, but if San Diego wins, it'll be going to Denver.
