Lazor helped turned Nick Foles into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season, could he do the same for Ryan Tannehill?

The Miami Dolphins will interview Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor on Wednesday to be their new offensive coordinator, according to Adam Schefter. Current Eagles VP of Player Personnel Tom Gambleis reportedly the leading candidate to become Miami's new general manager, which could be one of the big reasons that Lazor is interviewing with the Dolphins to fill the vacancy left by the recently-fired Mike Sherman.

It was previously rumored that Lazor could be a candidate for the head coaching job in Washington to replace Mike Shanahan, but there have been no further reports to support that as of yet.

Lazor has spent just one season with Philadelphia, having been hired by head coach Chip Kelly in 2013 after serving as the offensive coordinator at the University of Virginia. Lazor was tasked with developing rookie Matt Barkley, as well as working with veteran Michael Vick and second-year pro Nick Foles. Under the guidance of Kelly and Lazor, Foles led the NFL in passer rating at 119.2 while throwing just two interceptions against 27 touchdowns. It was one of the most efficient seasons by a quarterback in NFL history, despite Foles struggling as a rookie under Andy Reid's staff the previous year.

Lazor first worked in the NFL under Dan Reeves and the Atlanta Falcons as an assistant in 2003, his first experience with Vick, and has also worked under Joe Gibbs in Washington and Mike Holmgren with the Seahawks.

The Dolphins fired Sherman after finishing 26th in scoring and missing the playoffs by losing their season finale against the New York Jets, with quarterback Ryan Tannehill throwing three interceptions. If hired, Lazor could be a key component in helping Tannehill advance to the next level.
