An ankle sprain and bone bruise will sideline the Knicks big man at least two weeks.
The New York Knicks will be without Amar'e Stoudemire for approximately two weeks after an MRI revealed he suffered an ankle sprain and bone bruise Thursday night against the Indiana Pacers, the team officially announced. Stoudemire rolled his ankle on a drive to the rim during the third quarter and left the game following two free throw attempts.
Stoudemire was playing extended minutes after Knicks big man Kenyon Martin also suffered a sprained ankle earlier in the game. The Knicks host the Los Angeles Clippers Friday night and will be without both frontcourt players, giving Cole Aldrich and Jeremy Tyler added responsibility as the only reserve big men on the roster. An MRI confirmed that Martin is suffering from a sprain and tendinitis in his left ankle, and he is also expected to miss two weeks.
The Knicks were on a five-game winning streak prior to dropping their last two games. New York has gone 15-24 through 39 games and is currently 1.5 games behind the No. 8-seed Brooklyn Nets.
