Ray Farmer declines 2nd interview for Dolphins GM job, per report

Ray Farmer, once considered a favorite for the Dolphins' open general position, has removed his hat from the ring ... or has he?

Ray Farmer has removed himself from the running for the Miami Dolphins' open general manager position, Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports. Farmer went through a first round of interviews with the organization, but, according to La Canfora, has opted to stick with the Cleveland Browns, where he is currently the assistant general manager.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald later spoke with Farmer, who said he is still unsure whether or not he will take the second interview. Salguero also spoke with John Wooten of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, an organization for the advancement of diversity in the NFL, who said that Farmer still has questions about the Dolphins' organizational hierarchy.

"He has reservations about the structure of the Dolphins," Wooten said. "He's not certain who would be running things, whether it would be him or someone else. I told him the only way you can find out is to take the second interview and get the answer."

The Browns have yet to officially announce that Farmer is staying, so there is still a chance he may change his mind.

Farmer is considered a rising star among the ranks of NFL front offices. In a little more than a decade, he has gone from being a scout with the Atlanta Falcons, to garnering strong interest for GM positions at 39 years old. Farmer was made assistant GM with the Browns before the 2013 season.
