2014 Super Bowl: Knowshon Moreno may play his last game with Broncos

The much-improved Broncos running back may play his last game as a Bronco in the Super Bowl.

Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno is expected to hit the free agency market and likely sign elsewhere this offseason, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. The former first round pick is believed to be too expensive to be retained by the Broncos and will most likely play his last game as a member of the team this Sunday in the Super Bowl. Moreno has played his entire five-year career in Denver and is set to start at running back in the Broncos first Super Bowl appearance in 15 years.

Moreno had a career year in 2013 with his 1,000-yard season in his NFL career. In the final season of his rookie contract, Moreno served as a legitimate all-purpose back with 1,038 rushing and 548 receiving yards on the year. He also contributed 13 total touchdowns on the season. In two games this postseason, Moreno has 141 rushing yards and a touchdown on 37 carries.

Moreno is one of the top running backs set to hit the free agent market this offseason and playing with Peyton Manning has certainly benefited him in preparation for a possible large pay day. Prior to the season, there were questions as to whether Moreno was worthy of a starting role in the NFL. He will now hit a free agent market with the likes of Ben Tate, injury-prone Darren McFadden and aging Maurice Jones-Drew.

The Broncos currently have a Moreno's likely replacement on the roster. Denver spent a second round pick on Montee Ball in last year's draft when the Broncos though that Moreno projected as a bust. In fact, Moreno was in trouble of being cut prior to the season, Rapoport reported on NFL Network. The Broncos also have former third round pick Ronnie Hillman on the roster.
