College basketball scores: Oklahoma State's skid continues with home loss to Baylor

The Bears handed the Cowboys their third loss in four tries in a game that could be a turning point for Scott Drew's group.

Baylor's season spiraled out of control long ago, but the Bears gave fans a glimpse of hope on Saturday with a 76-70 upset win over No. 8 Oklahoma State at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

The loss was the third in four games for the Cowboys, who have suddenly gone from a Big 12 favorite to a .500 team at 4-4 in the conference.

Rico Gathers scored the final seven points of the first half for Baylor, who went into the locker room with a 32-31 lead after a closely contested half of action. Gathers shot 6-10 from the field and finished with 14 points and six rebounds.

The lead changed hands six times in the first four minutes of the second half before a 9-2 spurt put Baylor up six with 12:56 to play, capped by a three from Brady Heslip. Heslip led Baylor with 20 points on six threes.

Baylor soon extended its lead to nine before Markel Brown and Marcus Smart brought Oklahoma State back into it. A pair of free throws from Smart bring the Cowboys back in front with 4:16 to play, but the Bears' next three baskets were triples from Gary Franklin that put Baylor up for good.

The Bears connected on 11 threes overall, despite coming into the game making just 35 percent of their attempts in Big 12 play.

Brown led Oklahoma State with a game-high 24 points and Le'Bryan Nash added 19, but the rest of the team combined to shoot just 7-27 from the field.

Buckeyes get back on track at Kohl Center

Much like Baylor, No. 24 Ohio State had been in free-fall coming into Saturday, and like the Bears, the Buckeyes picked up a huge road win in a notoriously tough building for visiting teams.

The Buckeyes topped No. 14 Wisconsin 59-58 after a bizarre ending in Madison.

Following a missed free throw by the Badgers' Traevon Jackson, Lenzelle Smith Jr. missed a layup on a fast break. He got his own rebound but fell to the floor and was called for a travel, giving Wisconsin one final possession:

But when Jackson was unable to penetrate past the top of the key, he passed to Sam Dekker who was forced to take an off-balance three that rimmed out as time expired.

Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes had 17 points to lead all scorers while LaQuinton Ross had 13 to pace the Buckeyes.

The win was just Ohio State's second in its last seven tries and the Badgers have now lost five out of six since starting the season 16-0.

SMU knocks off Memphis

The Mustangs outscored Memphis 32-12 to open the second half on Saturday, turning a 29-29 tie into a relatively easy 73-58 victory at Moody Coliseum. SMU improved 11-0 at home, now including two wins over Top 25 opponents. The Mustangs upset then-No. 17 UConn on Jan. 4.

Villanova transfer Markus Kennedy led SMU with a career high 21 points on a perfect 10-10 shooting performance. His 15 rebounds gave him his fifth double-double of the season, all coming since Jan. 15. Nic Moore had a double-double of his own for the Mustangs with 14 points and 10 assists.

SMU has now won six out of its last seven games and is 6-3 in the AAC, now tied with Memphis for third place in the conference.

Joe Jackson had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead Memphis.

Kentucky rebounds with win over Missouri

Fresh off a surprising road loss at LSU, No. 11 Kentucky trailed for just 34 seconds in a statement 84-79 win at Missouri.

The Tigers got 33 points from Jabari Brown and 28 more from Jordan Clarkson, but the rest of the team combined for just 18 points.

Up 10 at the half, the Wildcats extended their lead to 16 on a three from Aaron Harrison with 14:32 to play. But when it looked like Kentucky would cruise, the Tigers clawed back, closing the gap to just three on this dunk from Brown with seven minutes left:

But Missouri was never able to complete the comeback. Kentucky shot 8-14 from three to hold off the Tigers. Harrison finished with 21 points and James Young had 20. Julius Randle handled Missouri inside with ease, tallying 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
