Another week and another highlight reel shot from the best young player in golf.

It seems that Jordan Spieth is making headlines and highlights on almost a weekly basis now, as the sophomore plays his first full PGA Tour season with a card acquired on the success of that astounding rookie year. It has been a good west coast swing for Spieth after he just missed out on winning the season opener at Kapalua. The 2013 Rookie of the Year contended at both the Farmers Insurance Open and the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

After those two close calls in California, can he break through in the final Cali event of the season? Riviera is a decidedly different test compared to Torrey Pines and Pebble, but Spieth's week started in pretty dramatic fashion. The 20-year old holed out for eagle on Riv's par-4 seventh hole:

This was the second such hole out from deep in the fairway on Thursday, but Jim Furyk's 151-yard snipe on No. 2 was for a regular old birdie after he had to punch out.

It looked like Spieth would be off and running, chasing the other top young American talent in Dustin Johnson, who was in the clubhouse with the lead at 5-under. But Spieth, who made the turn in 3-under, promptly gave it away with three straight bogeys on Nos. 11 through 13.
