The Texans nose tackle suffered a punctured lung against the Bills and is out for the Bears game in Week 10.

Houston Texans nose tackle Shaun Cody suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung in Sunday's win over the Buffalo Bills, according to Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle.

Cody was forced to leave the game against the Texans with the rib injury but later returned. Texans coach Gary Kubiak, speaking during Wednesday's news conference, said the veteran was going to be day-to-day with the rib injury and was questionable for Sunday night's game in Chicago.

The 29-year-old nose tackle is in his fourth season with the Texans and has started all but two games since 2009. Cody has also been dealing with a nagging back injury for most of this season, typically receiving Wednesday's off for practice, and it's uncertain how long the combination of injuries could keep him out.

In eight games this season with Houston, Cody has 13 total tackles, one pass defensed and no sacks. It is possible for a player to play with a broken rib, but only if there is no danger of further injury to the lung. If the veteran is unable to play, it's likely that third-year nose tackle Earl Mitchell would step up in his place.
