Lakers star Kobe Bryant has reportedly asked for a new coach in Los Angeles.
Kobe Bryant wants the Lakers to contend next season, and the star guard apparently wants it to happen without head coach Mike D'Antoni at the helm. Bryant is unhappy with D'Antoni and wants Los Angeles to replace him for the 2014-2014 NBA season, according to a report from the Sporting News.
This comes on the same day that the Lakers announced Bryant would miss the rest of the season due to lack of progress in his rehab for his injured left knee. The star guard told reporters earlier on Wednesday that he doesn't think the front office situation in L.A. is working and that he won't be waiting around for a rebuild next year.
The Lakers are just 22-42 this year under D'Antoni, who has an overall record in L.A. of just 62-74. The former leader of the 'Seven Seconds or Less' Phoenix Suns of the mid-2000s has had trouble in Los Angeles this season, dealing with injuries, roster change and lack of talent.
