Jason Pominville's shattered stick didn't stop him from beating Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask on Monday night.
A broken stick on a shot attempt or scoring chance is usually a source of frustration for hockey players.
For Jason Pominville of the Minnesota Wild, it simply does not matter. At least not on Monday night.
He scored his 26th goal of the season -- and fourth goal in his past five games -- late in the second period in Boston as the blade of his stick shattered on a slap shot off of a partial breakaway.
Hey, that's one way to beat Tuukka Rask, and it probably turned out to be a pretty big advantage for Pominville. Imagine being a goalie and trying to focus on the puck only to have a twirling stick blade come flying at you out of the corner of your eye.
The book is out on you, Tuukka.
