... only to come up writhing in pain.

While it appeared bad at the time, the good news is the White Soxannounced that preliminary x-rays were negative for fracture, separation or dislocation. This doesn't preclude sprains or strains, of course, which means this could still be a multi-week injury. It's likely that this results in more playing time for Dayan Viciedo. Garcia was hitting .276/.323/.483 at the time of the injury.

Test results inconclusive for Moore

Matt Moore's meeting with Dr. James Andrews resulted in more tests according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

Moore had a more detailed MRI done, one that included a dye injection that will provide higher contrast - and hopefully more clarity. Manager Joe Maddon stated

It needs to be looked at a little bit more deeply because it's not a slam dunk surgery right now.

Maddon added that the Rays front office wanted to have more of an in-depth discussion once the results of the more detailed MRI came back, before making any decisions in regards to surgery. The Rays are seeking to find out how much of tear Moore has, and how much damage was already present in the elbow.

Top Oakland prospect suffers hamstring strain

Addison Russell, the Athletics top prospect, has suffered a torn right hamstring according to Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan. The injury was classified as a grade three strain.

Already in Double-A at only 20 years old, Russell was hitting .714/.714/1.286 on the still-young season (two games). He hit .275.377/.508 in High-A Stockton last year, adding 17 home runs and 21 stolen bases. While he did benefit from the friendly offensive environs of the California League, Russell is viewed as one of the games top prospects thanks to above-average tools across the board, as well as a strong likelihood that he can remain at the shortstop postiion.
