European hopefuls Lazio and Torino shared six goals in a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.
Antonio Candreva scored with the last touch of the game to deny Torino all three points against ten man Lazio. The two sides came into the game locked in 7th place and were going head-to-head, as the battle for European places heats up. Torino twice came from behind and looked to have the game won until the Biancocelesti's late strike.
Edy Reja and Giampiero Ventura both had plenty of injuries to contend with. Lucas Biglia returned from a ban and Keita Balde shook off an injury to start for the hosts, but Lorik Cana sat out after his red card in last week's defeat at Napoli. Alessio Cerci was in the stands for the visitors due to suspension, so Riccardo Meggiorini was deputised alongside Ciro Immobile in the Granata attack.
The visitors created the game's first chance on five minutes. Omal El Kaddouri released Matteo Darmian out wide. The midfielder's cut-back caused chaos in the Lazio box, with Luis Cavanda and Etrit Berisha both just doing enough to stop the ball falling at the feet of Immobile and Meggiorini.
Lazio woke up and controlled the majority of the first half. Daniele Padelli spread himself to save from Candreva after the winger skipped his way into the box. Keita crossed for Mauri to head over, before Keita's toe poke from the edge of the area finished just wide of the far post.
Berisha could only watch as Cesare Bovo curled a free kick off the top of the crossbar. His opposite number, Padelli, tipped over a Stefan Radu blockbuster from distance.
The hosts went ahead three minutes before the break. Biglia's free kick was nodded across the box by Radu and Stefano Mauri came running in to power a point blank header into the net.
Half time seemed to disrupt Lazio's momentum, as the tide shifted in Torino's favour straight after the restart. Kamil Glik almost punished a poor clearance from a corner, but volleyed over from 12 yards. The Granata did draw level on 52 minutes. Meggiorini cut the ball back in the box for Jasmin Kurtic to place a shot past Berisha at the far post.
Lazio were given a chance to re-take the lead on the hour when Padelli caught Keita's feet in the box. The referee pointed to the spot and several Torino players were booked for dissent. Candreva stepped up and coolly lifted his penalty straight down the middle of Padelli's goal.
Torino substituted their goalscorer, and his replacement scored after just two minutes on the pitch. A corner missed everyone bar Panagiotis Tachtsidis, whose low volley from inside the box crept underneath Berisha.
Lazio's poor discipline came back to haunt them, as they had a man sent off for the third game in a row. Diego Novaretti pole-axed Darmian in full flight on the edge of the box and was given a second booking. Torino used their extra man to dominate the final ten minutes. Berisha fisted clear a powerful Bovo free kick and a last ditch tackle from Giuseppe Biava prevented Immobile's route to goal.
Immobile had been largely anonymous for much of the game, but the Italian suddenly burst into life. Berisha denied the frontman at the near post and then with his feet. Paulo Barreto played a poor pass, but Immobile rescued it and forced a third stop from the under-fire custodian.
In the final minute, Immobile finally found the net and goal number 20 of the season. The forward controlled a pass and stepped into the box to rifle a hard shot inside the near post.
There was still one final twist to come. Deep in stoppage time, Candreva latched onto Felipe Anderson's hopeful shot. The flag stayed down and Candreva converted from close range in what was to be the last kick of the game.
