The Pirates-Giants game ended historically, with the first walk-off replay challenge.
In what may be a portent of things to come, the Pittsburgh Pirates game against the San Francisco Giants ended with the first walk-off replay in MLB history. Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth, outfielder Starling Marte was called out on a play at the plate following an inside-the-park home run triple plus throwing error. The call was immediately challenged by the Bucs, who won the challenge and the game.
