FedEx St. Jude Classic scores: Ben Crane leads heading into Sunday

Inclement weather once again halted the St. Jude Classic early, but not before the field managed to make up some ground.

Compared to Thursday and Friday, the weather at TPC Southwind was much better on Saturday, but it didn't hold out long enough to get the round in. Ben Crane remains on top of the leaderboard, and he'll begin Sunday with a four-stroke lead.

Crane continues to excel at avoiding dropped shots. He only managed to get through six holes on Saturday, notching a birdie and five pars on the day. He's notched just one bogey through 42 holes. At 13-under, he is in terrific shape heading into Sunday. It could be a long day, with 30 holes potentially on the schedule. Troy Merritt will begin Sunday in second place at 9-under. He got his third round off to a good start and is 2-under through seven holes.

Phil Mickelson managed a 68 in the second round to improve to 5-under. He wasn't able to move any further into the red on his first nine holes of the third round, carding nine pars on his opening nine. His short game has been extremely sharp all week, but he hasn't driven the ball as well as he will likely need to in order to contend at Pinehurst next week.

The day began with much of the second round still needing to be played. The field managed to get that in, a cut was made and the third round began not long after. Inclement weather hit again, forcing a suspension in play at 7:49 p.m. ET, and the round was suspended for the day at 8:13 p.m. None of the remaining field was able to complete the third round, with the final group through six holes. Play will resume at 8 a.m. on Sunday, and if weather holds out the field should be able to get through 72 holes. If not, there is a chance the tournament would be shortened, as a Monday finish on U.S. Open week is less than ideal. Currently, 41 players in the St. Jude field are scheduled to play in the U.S. Open.

Here is a complete look at where things stand heading into Sunday:
