Henrik Lundqvist's last minute save on Jeff Carter allowed the Rangers to take a 2-1 lead into the third period of Game 4.

If the first three games of the Stanley Cup Final are any indicator for what's about to come, the New York Rangers put themselves in the worst possible position in the second period on Wednesday night.

They took the dreaded two-goal lead.

They've already let a pair of two-goal leads slip away in this series and seemed determine to let another one go on Wednesday. After Martin St. Louis scored his second goal of the series, the Rangers seemed to take their foot off the gas a little bit and allowed Los Angeles to get on the board when Dustin Brown beat Henrik Lundqvist with a breakaway just as a Kings penalty had expired.

The biggest concern for the Rangers in the second period, aside from the fact that Los Angeles seems to have awakened, had to be the continued struggles of defenseman Dan Girardi. A broken stick at the blue line resulted in the breakaway that led to Brown's goal, and he was absolutely torched by Jeff Carter to create the breakaway that Lundqvist had to stop in the final minute.
