Williams was the deadliest big-game scorer in the 2014 NHL Playoffs.
The NHL's award for the best playoff performance went to the most dangerous scorer in the 2014 NHL Playoffs, Los Angeles Kings forward Justin Williams. He was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy after the Kings won the Stanley Cup Friday night.
It's hard to argue with the decision. Williams was the most consistent scorer in every playoff round, earning the nickname "Mr. Game 7" with his heroics in series-clinching games for Los Angeles.
Williams' opening score in Game 5 was his second goal and series-leading seventh point of the Cup Final. He also finished second in points (24), third in goals (9) and first in plus/minus (+14) in Stanley Cup Playoffs scoring.
But it was his performance in series-defining games that earned him the Conn Smythe. Williams scored two goals and registered five points in three Game 7 appearances, including an assist on Alec Martinez' overtime game-winning goal against Chicago that sent the Kings to the Stanley Cup Final. This is the third Stanley Cup win for Williams, who previously won with Carolina in 2006 and L.A. in 2012.
