Stay up to date with scores and schedule as national champion is crowned in Omaha.

The College World Series may not have the sex appeal of another championship tournament going on this month (the fact that one's being held in Brazil instead of Nebraska doesn't help), but it warrants your attention nevertheless.

What began as a 64-team tournament has evaporated down to just eight teams in less than two weeks. The remaining combatants begin the final push for a title in Omaha, college baseball's brightest stage. By no later than June 25, one club will be dog piling at TD Ameritrade Park as the national champions.

Unfamiliar with the format of the College World Series? We have you covered. Need the full schedule so you can plan exactly which day you need to go down with food poisoning and miss work? We've got you there too.

The format

The College World Series can be broken down into two stages: the group stage and the finals. In the group stage, the eight teams are split into two bracket groups of four, which play a double elimination mini-tournament. This is the same format as the regional round that opened the tournament.

The winner of each of the two groups advances to the finals, a best of three series to determine a national champion.

Like in the regionals, winning the first two games of group play provides a massive advantage. For starters, you have to play one less game -- winning the first two essentially gives you a bye into the group finals while the other two teams play an elimination game. Secondly, whichever team comes back up from the losers' bracket has to beat the undefeated team twice in a row.

The schedule

We'll be keeping this puppy updated throughout the College World Series, so check back each day for the latest matchups and tune-in info.
