There are still spots available in the Round of 16 and an American man alive in London. Quite a big day.
John Isner stands alone, an American tennis player in London, with Spain's Feliciano Lopez the only thing standing between him and his first trip to the Round of 16 at the Wimbledon Championship. But Lopez will not go quietly, having come back from three tiebreaks in a single match on Tuesday; the Spaniard has three trips to the Championship quarterfinals already under his belt.
Stan Wawrinka, the fifth-seeded Swiss, is coming off his first career Grand Slam title earlier this year at the Australian Open and looks to have a slightly easier challenge awaiting him on Monday. His opponent, Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin, has played well so far this tournament. Istomin upset Dmitry Tursunov of Russia in the first round and has made it to the Round of 16 before, but he will likely succumb to Wawrinka's otherworldly backhand as many have before him.
If both Isner and Wawrinka win, they will meet in a fourth-round match later this week.
But some fourth-round matches will also be running on Monday, time and weather permitting. Defending champion and "hometown" hero Andy Murray -- he's actually Scottish -- will be featured on Centre Court against No. 20 Kevin Anderson of Russia. Prior to that match, in the ladies' bracket, Canada's Eugenie Bouchard will look to knock off France's Alize Cornet, who beat top-seeded Serena Williams on Friday in three sets.
All of this will be build up to the real fireworks show, as No. 14 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and No. 1 Novak Djokovic will push each other to the limit to close out the day on Centre Court.
