A tangled web of small forwards remains as one of the last remaining questions in free agency this summer.

The dominoes continue to filter through the NBA now that LeBron James has made his decision, and the Miami Heat are in the middle of addressing the crater he left behind at at small forward. The Heat are working on terms of a short contract with Luol Deng that would earn him roughly $10 million per season, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

Deng is one of the most sought-after free agents still available, and multiple teams are said to be interested in signing the playoff-proven small forward. The Atlanta Hawks pursued Deng earlier in free agency and are now after the small forward once again, according to Wojnarowski.

The Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Heat are tangled in a web of free agent small forwards. Dallas is waiting to find out if the Rockets will match the offer sheet restricted free agent Chandler Parsons signed with the Mavericks. Another wing, Lance Stephenson, is the Mavericks' top target if the Rockets do match the Parsons offer sheet, reports Wojnarowski. Deng is waiting to see how the contract situation between the Rockets and Mavericks plays out before committing to Miami, according to USA TODAY's Sam Amick.

All three players can make an impact wherever they sign, making this one of the last landscape-shaping scenarios still playing out. Stephenson's free agency has been quiet after he turned down a five-year, $44 million contract offer from the Indiana Pacers.

Houston swung and miss on signing a big-name free agent this summer with Carmelo Anthony staying with the New York Knicks and Chris Bosh agreeing to a five-year contract to stay in Miami. The Rockets moved on, signing free agent small forward Trevor Ariza to a four-year, $24 million contract.

Pau Gasol to the Bulls is still pending

The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls have not agreed to terms on a sign-and-trade deal to send Pau Gasol to Chicago, but the two-time NBA champion took to Twitter to announce he was leaving Southern California.

The Bulls cannot offer Gasol a significant contract with their current salary structure, but have options to address the issue. Chicago can send assets to the Lakers in a sign-and-trade, find a way to cut more salary with a separate trade, or amnesty Carlos Boozer. Boozer is on an expiring $16.8 million contract.

Gasol to Chicago is close to being official. All that's left is how the transaction will be processed.

Details emerge on LeBron James' new contract

The news of LeBron James' return to Cleveland was huge, but details on the contract he agreed to were not immediately available. Now they are, and he did not sign for the full four years.

James signed a two-year contract worth $41 million, which also has a player option following his first season back with the Cavaliers. This allows James the chance to negotiate a contract once the NBA's new TV deal has been signed, which is expected to raise the league's salary cap by approximately $17 million.

James is committed to re-signing with the Cavaliers, but even if he does, it's a careful business decision to make sure he keeps his options open while being able to take advantage of a new salary cap.
