Fredette will help New Orleans replace Anthony Morrow.

Guard Jimmer Fredette will sign a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, who will help to salvage the 2011 lottery pick's career, ESPN's Marc Stein reported on Thursday night. Terms of the deal are not yet known.

Fredette averaged 7.6 points and 1.8 assists per game in his rookie year with the Sacramento Kings, who picked him 10th overall in 2011. Since, his point totals have tailed off but his shot selection has steadily improved. Last season, he averaged just 5.6 points with the Kings and then the Bulls, but he did shoot 47 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from three-point range, albeit on limited attempts.

Fredette's shooting has always been his strength, and there's still promise in the young guard now that he's seemingly learned how to do it at an efficient clip.

Morrow, who has signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaged 8.4 points in about 19 minutes per game for the Pelicans in 2013-14.
