The 49ers spent the week deciding on a quarterback.

The San Francisco 49ers opened as 2 1/2-point favorites over the New Orleans Saints for their Week 12 contest, according to OddsShark.com.

The 49ers followed an uninspiring performance in their tie with the St. Louis Rams in Week 10 by blasting the Chicago Bears last weekend, 32-7. Backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns while starting in place of the injured Alex Smith. Kaepernick could have that role again this week.

The Saints have won three consecutive games to vault themselves back into the thick of the NFC playoff hunt. The Saints have easily covered in each game, including in a 31-27 win over the then-undefeated Atlanta Falcons in Week 10.

The over/under is at 48 1/2 to start. While the Saints and their opponents combine to score well over that number on average, the 49ers and their foes score just 28 points per game.

The 49ers and Saints are set for a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday.
