Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin has generated excitement during preseason, and his performance against the New England Patriots on Friday night added to the hype.
Benjamin started for the Panthers and led the team with five catches for 47 yards and six targets, predominantly working against one of the NFL's top cornerbacks in Darrelle Revis. The rookie held his own, however, and used his 6'5 frame to fend Revis off for contested catches. Through three preseason games, Benjamin has eight catches for 117 yards.
Fantasy Spin: Benjamin's ADP has steadily risen from the late rounds to a firm 8th-round slot as the summer has progressed. Though he did not turn in a particularly flashy performance on Friday, and with the Panthers offense looking shaky as a whole, Benjamin's effort could cause his ADP trajectory to continue upwards. There is definitely upside in the athletic rookie, but owners would be taking a gamble with him early as their WR3. Benjamin still possesses far more value in dynasty leagues than redraft leagues.
