Soler takes Mat Latos deep to center field.
Jorge Soler didn't take long to get acclimated to the major leagues, homering in his first professional at-bat off Cincinnati start Mat Latos. It wasn't a cheapie either, though playing in Great American Ballpark couldn't have hurt. Commence with all the "Soler power" jokes. Don't let the fact that Luis Valbuena homered the previous at-bat diminish the accomplishment, though.
Soler is the most recent Cubs prospect to make his debut, following in the footsteps of Arismendy Alcantara and Javier Baez. Soler was signed to a $30 million contract as a 19-year-old out of Cuba, and looks to be the next Cuban import to make good along the lines of Yoenis Cespedes and Yasiel Puig.
