Brian Hoyer doesn't have to worry about a quick benching; fantasy value still very low

Brian Hoyer doesn't have to worry about Johnny Manziel taking his job, at least in the early-goings of this season. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Cleveland Browns plan on giving quarterback Brian Hoyer plenty of time to grow and convince the team he should remain the starting quarterback, according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal. Head coach Mike Pettine said that Hoyer "knows it's not going to be a quick hook," according to Ulrich.

In other words, Hoyer isn't going to be benched after a single game unless something catastrophic happens in the season opener. Rookie first-round pick Johnny Manziel didn't necessarily out-perform Hoyer in the preseason (neither quarterback was particularly good) so Hoyer doesn't have a whole lot to worry about at this point. However, Manziel is clearly the guy that the Browns want to succeed in the long run.

Fantasy Impact: We're not sure why you would go with the Browns as your team of choice for a quarterback, but if you've got Hoyer (hopefully in some kind of league in which you need three of four quarterbacks), then you probably don't need to worry about Manziel taking his job for a few games at the very least. You do have to worry about him not having much at the receiver position, though.
