UCLA is favored by more than a TD in its trip to Texas to take on the Longhorns (Saturday, 8 p.m. ET, FOX).
The UCLA Bruins are 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four games against the Texas Longhorns. They are favored to add another win to that record as an eight-point road favorite in Texas this Saturday night at AT&T Stadium.
Despite the fact that UCLA hasn't looked good so far this season, the Bruins match up well against the Longhorns on paper with Brett Hundley under center. Look for UCLA to win this one by nine points or more.
UCLA is off to a 2-0 SU and 0-2 ATS start in 2014, failing to put it all together in its first two games at Virginia and at home against Memphis. Against Virginia, the defense played great and scored three touchdowns, but the offense was largely ineffective. Last week against Memphis, the defense allowed 35 points but Hundley led the offense to 42 points with 396 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Bruins will need a complete effort this week to cover the spread.
After being embarrassed 40-21 on the road at BYU last season, Texas once again didn't have an answer for the Cougars this season in a 41-7 home loss last week. With the loss, the Longhorns fell to 2-4 SU and ATS over their last six games.
Texas has been cashing steadily on the UNDER since the middle of last season, as the UNDER is 8-1-1 in Texas's last 10 games. Part of the reason why Texas has consistently been going UNDER is poor play on offense. The Longhorns are 1-3 SU and ATS over their last three games and have scored 10 points or fewer in each of those three losses. With David Ash out indefinitely, sophomore quarterback Tyrone Swoopes will be thrust into the starting role.
UCLA is 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS in its last eight games as a road favorite. Last week's poor performance by the defense aside, this unit is more than capable of making life very difficult for an inexperienced quarterback.
And Texas' struggles against mobile quarterbacks make Brett Hundley a nightmare of a matchup for the Longhorns and UCLA the pick at -8.
