Allen Hurns could have fantasy value in Week 2 with Cecil Shorts still hurt

Cecil Shorts did not practice on Friday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts III (hamstring) did not practice on Friday. He has dealt with a hamstring strain since the beginning of training camp and missed Week 1's opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Shorts is not expected to play against Washington on Sunday.

The world was introduced to undrafted free agent Allen Hurns rather quickly on Sunday. The rookie scored two touchdowns on the Jaguars' first two drives of the year and he cleared the 100-yard plateau in the first half. The Eagles did limit him as the game went on -- as well as quarterback Chad Henne -- and Hurns only caught one ball in the second half, finishing with 110 yards and those aforementioned two scores.

Shorts is not expected to return any time soon and could miss Week 3 and beyond. Rookie receiver Marqise Lee will start opposite Hurns and could have his chance to shine.

Fantasy impact: Perhaps the Eagles completely overlooked Hurns, which is something Washington won't be doing on Sunday. Based on how he was so quiet in the second half, fantasy owners shouldn't be setting the bar too high. Still, Henne and Hurns do have some chemistry, so he's a desperation WR3. Lee is also a low-end flex play.
