The Carolina Panthers will likely be without running back Jonathan Stewart when they come into Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday to face the Kansas City Chiefs. Stewart has had a bum ankle all season but sprained it last week against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera called him "very doubtful" to play with injuries to both ankles.

"He's very sore and didn't do a lot of moving around today," Panthers coach Ron Rivera said, via the Charlotte Observer. "We'll see again tomorrow and probably make the decision sometime tomorrow."

Stewart has 336 yards on 93 carries for the season. DeAngelo Williams has 292 yards on 91 carries. That's 3.6 and 3.2 yards per carry, respectively. Not exactly Jamaal's six-plus yards per carry, huh? Also: Cam Newton, not the running backs, leads them in rushing with 447 yards.

Williams is the former starter, since Week 5. He'll get the nod if Stewart can't go. Stewart hasn't practiced all week so the translation is: he's not playing.

The Chiefs have the 28th ranked defense in the league. They need all the help they can get.

The rest of the Panthers injury report...

CB Captain Munnerlyn has a hamstring injury. He hasn't practiced all week and is listed as questionable.

DE Antwan Applewhite also has a hamstring injury, hasn't practiced in the last two days and is listed as doubtful.

Cam Newton is on there with a right wrist injury, has been a full participant in practice all week and is listed as probable. He's gonna play.
